Dead or alive!!!

Wow!!! I believe the road march was as hard as going to Blue Mountain Peak. Now granted I did the peak back in ‘95 so I was a decade younger but I think the fitness level is about the same (which in itself is sad). I don’t know if I can do this carnival thing again!! (At least not with these feet) :-(

The truth is I didn’t feel as bad about it asI thought I would. I figured I would have been mash up when I finished. Yes, I was tired, exhausted even, but not exactly dead. I managed to keep pushing all the way through to the end of the road march with no real stops, no getting on a truck. Dead or alive!!!! We coming!!! I did it all on my own two feet. Of course, that was the problem.

I can exercise in advance next year and that should take care of the fitness and the ’slimness’ issues, but I don’t think I can do anything for my feet. I did my best this year - I wore my newest sneakers, I wore an extra insole, I put a heel pad, I wore 2 pairs of socks!! The only thing I didn’t do was wear the ankle brace (even though I had twisted it on Friday night). And still by the time I was 1/3 of the way thru, my feet started to hurt, 1/2 way thru they were killing me, and by the time we hit Knutsford Blvd, they were throbbing.

There was no good way to stand because every part of my feet hurt, the heels, the toes, the balls!! My feet seem to be too old for carnival!! And how can I fix old feet?? When I got home, I could barely walk, managed to get them into some hot water to soak before going to sleep (really sounding like old people, eh?) The soaking definitely helped, but I still have no long-term solution - how is a young girl like me supposed to get her groove on when the body starts falling apart?? I think I have to accept that as young as I feel at heart, my feet are over the hill.
