Time lost…

Imagine this … you close your eyes, an instant passes and when you open them over an hour has passed and you have no clue what happened in that time. Well this happened to me last week Friday. Of course, it’s not as suspicious as it sounds because I had submitted myself to a general anaesthetic for the purposes of removing my wisdom teeth.

So basically here’s how it went - the doctor stuck a huge needle in the back of my hand, no clue what was in it, but it hurt like crazy. So after another minute or two, he placed this breathy mask thing over my face and told me to take 10 deep breaths. Well I know for sure I never made it to 10. I’m not even sure if I made it to 5 because it got really hard to concentrate after the first couple breaths. Next thing I knew my eyes were closed (I think because everything went black). Then …

… that’s it!! Nothing else. The next thing I know he was tapping my arm and calling my name. It was done, it was over. Nothing else to report. And it was over an hour later. Wow!! That is a weird feeling to just lose time like that. To me it definitely felt like just a few seconds had passed at most.

What it did remind me of tho is how many times I am sitting around doing some busy-work or just a whole lot of nothingness and when I looked up I had managed to “kill” hours without even realizing. Maybe we should pay more attention to how we spend our timeso that we don’t make a habit of losing time.
