Bomb tactics
Ok, now I thought I was still in the Caribbean. That nice safe side of the world where bombs don’t go off in the middle of the day. So why when I get out of class yesterday is everyone all in a tizzy trying to make sure people can get home?
A bomb?!? Are they serious?!? In Trinidad?!? O……..k………. At this point, one of the girls in my class ended up staying the night with our teacher rather than travel home since she had to go right through downtown.
The one word that keeps coming up is ’senseless’. The radio reports talk about the senseless damage done. Apparently the bomb was a home-made device placed in a metal garbage can so when it went off it sent metal shrapnel flying. One lady has had to have her leg amputated. And for what?? So far nobody knows.
I suspect it was not for any real reason, no cause to be brought to the attention of anyone. Coming so soon after the bombings in London, it’s probably just some bright spark who decided he would show TT’s prime minister just what could happen because the government made this statement about their concern for terrorism and how they would make sure nothing like that would happen here.
Look where I end up, I tell you. Better I was in my “safe” Jamaica where my only risk is getting shot by stray bullets. First I had to worry about kidnapping, now bombings. It’s like I’m not in the Caribbean at all.
