The Compact Oxford English Dictionary defines a time capsule as “a container storing a selection of objects chosen as being typical of the present time, buried for discovery in the future.” Another definition, from Wikipedia, is a historic cache of goods and/or information, usually intended as a method of communication with people in the future. I recently watched “Butterfly Effect” with Ashton Kutcher. Not generally one of my favourite actors (outside of “That ’70s Show“) but I enjoyed this movie quite abit. Partly because its main premise tied into one my main philosophies in life.
The original term “butterfly effect” comes from chaos theory and describes the propensity of a system to be sensitive to initial conditions. The theory is typically applied to weather systems, with the notion of a butterfly flapping it’s wings in one area of the world causing a tornado or some such weather event to occur in another remote area of the world. We had no say in the beginning,
No way to know who we would get.
Yet it was love at first sight.
With the passing of time,
We grew to know more the other,
More of this person we love.
Not all the times were good,
For we both have our flaws,
But always an end to the fights.
Distances parted the hugs for a time,
Then we found our voices -
Daily reminders of the love we share.
Laughs, hugs and kisses,
Stories, and still some tears,
Closer yet as we both grow.
Protector, caretaker, partner-in-crime,
Companion and teacher, my idol for life,
You will always be my mother, my friend.
Two souls coming together
As though separated for a lifetime
Falling into place, perfectly
Fitting into each other’s spaces
Finally filling in the gaps
As unique as they are alike
The edges blurring as they overlap
Two distinct parts forming a whole
Creating something never before seen
Greater than either on its own
Bringing home a truth long lost
Friends and lovers, partnered for life
I only just realized this morning that my last post (Wishlist: Part I) was in fact post number:
100
Yay for me!! I guess even with those blank days when you sit and stare at the screen (most of us have them) , I still managed to find enough to share through this medium. So here we go onto the next 100.
Young enough to have fun with life
Old enough to know better
Obsessive enough to have passions
Moderate enough to make room for othersOpen enough to hear other views
Closed enough to have own opinions
Wise enough to have lots of answers
Foolish enough to still have questions
