Storm passed

When the darkness lifts,
All around, large and small,
Come up for air.
Smelling the freshness,
Which belies the woes
Wrought in her passing.
Eyes turn upwards ,
Looking to the blue
At the long hidden light.
Hearts raise in song,
Thankful for the relief,
For today the darkness lifts.

Didcha know…?

  1. Name someone with the same birthday as you.
Robert and Richard - Pair of good-looking twins that used to play water polo with me back in the day.
  2. Where was your first kiss?
New Kingston Drive-In, over to the left of the entrance, we were sitting on the gravel.
  3. Have you ever seriously vandalised someone else’s property?
    Not “seriously.”
  4. Have you ever hit someone of the opposite sex?
I do remember slapping a classmate in about Grade 3 so hard it left a bright handprint.
  5. Have you ever sung in front of a large number of people?

Appreciation

Thanks to Sara who featured my most recent poem ‘Softly’ on her blog.

Here is a poem of hers that she shared with me:

I’m too old to realize,
Yet too young to understand
The way this world works
As life gets out of hand.

As I see my life pass by
In front of my eyes,
I can tell you that my
Frustration is no surprise.

With so much to do
In so little time,
I begin to wonder
Whether I should start to climb
To the place I want to be,
Or just sit and stare
Up there silently,
Without getting anywhere.

Days pass by like minutes
As my restless state grows,
Where will I be tomorrow?
No one really knows.

Now I can comprehend
Why the Lord had said,
‘Mankind was created weak’,
As the weight sits on my head.

MAY PEACE BE UPON YOUR SOUL, HEART, MIND, AND BODY…AMEN.

Softly

A stream of bubbles,
all from the same breath,
glistening in the light,
tiny rainbows each,
short-lived they float,
each alone, shielded,
until one by one
they end their time,
alone in a stream.

What about your friends?

(Editorial note: I will apologize ahead of time for the length of this post but I needed to get this out. Those of you who are extremely time-pressed may feel free to skip to the last 2 paragraphs.)

Seen a few posts recently on friendship from various aspects: the lack of a need for it (David - Sept. 24, 2005), the selection process (Raisha - Oct. 7, 2005), the development of a new friendship and the questions that follow (Le-Anne - Sept. 14, 2005), the impact friends can have (Rasheeda - Sept. 23, 2005), the power of the simple things (Adrian - Oct. 10, 2005), and the things our friends do (R3D2 - Oct. 12, 2005). All of this just in the last 3 weeks.

It got me to thinking, but I wasn’t gonna post because so much had been said by those above. But then last night something happen that made me want to add my piece. (more…)
