Irresolute resolve
I’m not really big on this whole idea of New Year’s resolutions, mainly because many people set their sights a little too high making it difficult for themselves to maintain the momentum they create through the collective enthusiasm. The resolution falls by the wayside before the 2nd month is up and they have all these sorrowful reminiscences at the end of the year before they make the same resolutions.
Unfortunately, I do generally like to start things on round times. If studying I like to start on the hour or half-hour. If planning I like to begin on a Monday. New exercise program, the start of the month is preferred. And when trying to make larger scale life changes, I usually shoot for January.
I rationalize by telling myself it will be easier to keep track of how much I’ve done or how long I’ve kept it up if I start on a “round time” (I can just see the eyebrows raising here). Of course, we all know this is just one more tool available to those of us who are lifetime members of the Procrastinators 12-step programme that always starts tomorrow.
So do I have resolutions for next year? Let’s just say I have some stuff I want to do and in the true fashion of a lover of tomorrows, I will start next month.
Right now I am feeling kindacurious and
indescribable...
