Necessary resourcefulness

It is amazing what necessity will drive people to do. I am in some ways a stereotypical female. One of those is my general lack of interest in all things mechanical - I have no interest in how a car works or anything else of that nature. However, this does not stem from an inability as is proven from time to time. In the past I have done the following all by myself:

  • installed a car radio
  • repaired folding doors
  • replaced parts in a toilet tank

My most recent “adventure” was taking apart a bass drum pedal (a.k.a the “kick”) with my pops. Why would I do such a thing? Well a group I’m working with had 2 broken (and hence unusable) pedals. I took a look and deduced that it should be somewhat possible to combine the working bits of both to create a usable pedal until replacement parts can be bought. My pops had to be recruited as the man with the right tools but between the two of us we figured out the mechanics and fashioned a workable solution. Whoohoo!!

Right now I am feeling kinda relieved emoticon relieved...
