My thoughts about 'Nothing'

R.I.P. Lou Rawls

You’ll never find, as long as you live
Someone who loves you tender like I do
You’ll never find, no matter where you search
Someone who cares about you the way I do

Whoa, I’m not braggin’ on myself, baby
But I’m the one who loves you
And there’s no one else, noone else

You’ll never find, it’ll take the end of all time
Someone to understand you like I do
You’ll never find the rhythm, the rhyme
All the magic we shared, just us two

Whoa, I’m not tryin’ to make you stay, baby
But I know some how, some day, some way
You’re gonna miss my lovin’
You’re gonna miss, you’re gonna miss my love

Whoa, oh you’re gonna miss my lovin’
Late in the midnight hour, baby, you’re gonna miss my lovin’
When it’s cold outside, you’re gonna miss my lovin’
You’re gonna miss, you’re gonna miss my love

You’ll never find another love like mine
Someone who needs you like I do
You’ll never see what you’ve found in me
You’ll keep searching and searching your whole life through
Whoa, I don’t wish you no bad luck, baby
But there’s no ifs and buts or maybes

You’re gonna miss my lovin’
You’re gonna miss my lovin’
I know you’re gonna miss my lovin’
You’re gonna miss, you’re gonna miss my love

Words of wisdom

Amazing words to go forward with in the new year:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we un-consciously give other people permission to do the same. As we feel liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Marianne Williamson, “A Return to Love”

(often mistakenly attributed to Nelson Mandela)

See if you can make 2006 your best year ever!!

Is it time now?

It is amazing how life works sometimes. You can get yourself all worked up trying to “make” things happen and end up feeling like you are spinning in circles with no tangible results. And then with no warning, things may just start to come together and all you can say is “nothing before its time”.

Artic sunset?

Nooo, say it isn’t so! Apparently Alaska may lose their Northern Lights in another 50 years or so. Luckily they wouldn’t be gone forever, just more visible in Siberia and Europe. So says a report presented to the American Geophysical Union recently according to an article I read recently. It seems the Earth’s North Magnetic Pole is moving (as it does over time). Interesting, no?

For more info on the Northern Lights, NORDLYS has some amazing photos plus info on research, measurements, mythology.

Vocabulary lessons

  • POGONIP: Apparently not an Aboriginal name for an Australian rodent similar to a rodent. Instead it’s a dense fog that forms in deep valleys in the winter. Found it at Dictionary.com meaning ice fog (a fog of ice particles) or a dense winter fog containing ice particles.
  • As it turns out I am a TEGESTOLOGIST :???: (who knew). It seems that tegestology is the art of collecting cardboard beer coasters. I am not currently an active collector but I do have a collection that I brought with me when I returned from my year in Belgium some 10 years ago. Scarily enough there are websites dedicated to this as evidenced by a search on Google.
  • For future reference to those of you possibly interested in playing Boggle in the future (check out online Boggle), KOI is a perfectly valid 3-letter word. A koi is in fact a popular aquarium and ornamental pond fish, and includes any of various bright-colored carp (Cyprinus carpio) of Japan and eastern Asia.

Were you there?

/Panoridim/RestaurantWeek2005

If you missed it, check out the pics from our Restaurant Week venture last week to Guilt Trip (which does not only do pastry guys). Entertaining is all I will say, the opinions varied on the food but as always the lyme was good.

Mysterious forces?

Sometimes there seem to be strange forces at work around us. First it was a mysterious bit of prose on a neighbouring website going into detail on the outcome of the said website’s owner having a birthday on Sept 30. Then I receive a surprise reminder in my email inbox from a social networking website to say the birthday of my “friend” is coming up. Then this morning, I load my blog and to my surprise it seems my random photo generator, which randomly displays pictures from my online photo gallery has selected the said birthday girl as its highlight for the day - her birthday. Amazing!! Happy Birthday Sheeda!!

(Ok, ok, I will admit the first two were not so mysterious.)
