new york

Coming out of the career conference in Orlando I landed an interview with a large financial company based in New York. The arrangement was they would fly me to New York for the interview, put me up for one night and fly me back to Miami. Of course, I enquired about extending my trip. As there was no charge to change the ticket I worked up a few days for myself to see Manhattan.

I didn’t get the job but I did make a valiant effort to see the sights (mostly solo). In my two and a half days I managed to get to Chinatown, see Times Square at night, visited the International Center of Photography, went to the top of the Empire State Building, visited Ground Zero, saw Aida on Broadway, and checked out the Metropolitan Museum of Art (the Egyptian exhibit is fantastic).

Unfortunately, I couldn’t stay the entire trip in the W Hotel. That first night was like a dream world and after that I had to move to more affordable accomodations which were right in MidTown and a couple blocks from the Empire State Building so it all worked out.
