paris

During my year in Belgium, I made it to Paris twice. The first time was a mini-adventure with my friend from New Zealand, Jacquetta. We hopped on one of those bus tours that starts at some ridiculous hour of morning (they say it was morning, I know I saw no sun) and then drives back in the middle of the night. These tours are of course too fast to truly appreciate anywhere so I knew I had to go back.

Luckily for me, my class at school were planning their class trip (annual final year thing) to go to Paris in Spring. So I got one week in Paris in April. Whoohooo!! The weather was fantastic (compared to Belgium) with the temperature hitting a balmy 13 degrees Celcius! We were stripping down to tank tops and lying around on the grass at the Rodin museum. Life is good.

The absolute highpoint of this trip was going to the Louvre. Of course, the one day we had there was nowhere near sufficient but we did manage to see some of the more major works of art (Mona Lisa, David, etc.). The sheer size of this place and its grounds is mind-boggling.

As with so many of the places I visit, actually getting there does not remove it from my list. Instead it is now added to my list of places to go back to. :-D Yet to scan the pics from this trip.
